What to expect at your
Initial Osteopathic Consultation
1
WELCOME
You will be welcomed and directed to the clinic room where the consultation will be take in a safe and reserved place.
At your first appointment, you will be asked questions about your problem and symptoms. They may ask questions about previous injuries, your medical history and current medical status, or other factors that may not appear to be directly related to your problem. This history provides an overview of the current situation and the medical or lifestyle factors that may impact the healing process.
2
EXAMINATION
The osteopathic examination, postural assessments, and, if necessary, clinical tests will take place. This may involve diagnostic, orthopaedic or neurological tests, which will help determine how best to manage your condition.
As osteopathy takes a holistic approach to treatment, Giulia may look at other parts of your body and the area that is troubling you.
3
EXAMINATION
If your condition is approachable and the osteopathic treatment is safe and appropriate, Giulia will provide a hands-on treatment with structural and gentle techniques. To provide the best health journey, will also give you advice, education, referral and exercises.
4
AFTER
After the treatment, you may feel tired and need to rest. It is best to avoid strenuous exercise or work. Some people experience mild soreness for a day or two after treatment, similar to that felt after mild exercise. If you have any concerns or questions, Giulia will be happy to discuss them with you.
5
FOLLOW-UP
Generally, you can expect to see some changes in your symptoms after one treatment; however, some long-term or chronic conditions may require a longer course of treatment or more frequent visits.
